Taffeta Jacket

I had always wanted to make myself a tailored jacket so this was one of the projects I did with a tutor I see from time to time, Anne de Geus. A few years ago I learned pattern draughting and some of the finer points of couture sewing from Anne, as apart from that I am self-taught.

I chose a taffeta fabric with a raised self-fabric design.

I learned a lot while making it, and I was very happy with the way the jacket turned out.

All I have is a photo of the jacket, none of the actual construction. I hadn’t even thought about photographing all the steps back then, much less writing a blog!

This is the jacket I chose to wear to my oldest son’s wedding 5 years ago.

Thanks for visiting my blog 🙂
